World War II
Shortly after World War II ended, the Second Red Scare began to take affect in the United States. The nation feared communism, so innocent bystanders were sent to jail for expressing their beliefs, civil liberties were ignored, and many Americans had a fear of a Bolshevik-style revolution beginning.

Republicans tried everything to discredit the Roosevelt and Truman administrations. People that were against the New Deal would never try to distinguish enough between the liberals and communists and used anti-communism as a way to attack labor unions and liberal social programs. Investigations began to take place in the United States to determine if anyone was a communist. People began to fear that our country would become a communist country. Thus beginning the second Red Scare. This affected domestic United States policies because the Republican Party was trying to stop these policies from passing by scaring United States citizens into believing that communism existed in the country.
